Let the Machine Do the Work

Use Gravity and Centrifugal Force to Effortlessly Harvest Algae

High School Science Labs, Universities and Algae Research Firms have found this centrifuge affordable and very effective.  It works on forced-settling, where the algae slurry is fed into the top of the algae centrifuge.  The algae mix is then spins in the bowl.  The algae forms a paste as it is forced against the wall of the bowl and the water leaves out the top of the centrifuge bowl.   Then, the water drains out the bottom of the bowl into a container.    The algae centrifuge bowl holds about 22oz of material before needing to be cleaned.

The centrifuge runs at about 250 Watts and is rather quiet...like a large fan.
